On Friday, The Hurricanes travelled to Trenton to take on the league leading Golden Hawks for their second of four meetings this season, with Trenton taking the first game a few weeks ago in Newmarket.

It didn’t start well for the Hurricanes as Trenton scored twice in the first 6 minutes of the game. But that is all Hayden Duncan and the team would give up that game as the Hurricanes went off for six unanswered goals tying up the season series. Barrie Colts 2025 first round pick Alexander Sementsov was able to score his first OJHL goal while veteran defensemen Colin Maund also scored his first of the season. Nathan Phillips continues to do his thing with his 12th goal of the year to go along with 3 assists as the canes took game one of the weekend by a score of 6-2.

On Saturday, The Hurricanes returned to Ray Twinney in a game against the North York Rangers in front of a very rowdy crowd. Marcello Giorgi has been a welcomed addition, scoring twice while Max Grovestine stood tall in the crease, earning his first career OJHL shutout. The Hurricanes won the game 5-0 which means fans in attendance who purchased the $2 Game Day Programs were treated to Free Waffle Fries. At every Hurricanes home game, if the team scores 5 goals, Chik-Fil-A Newmarket East gives away waffle fries the next day when they are open.  Also a lucky shoot to score contestant won a $450 gift card to All Source for Sports as he buried the puck in the hole during the first intermission shoot to score event.

This week rookies Alex Sementsov, Reggie Taylor, Nicholas Muzzatti, Ben Bowen, Noah Barton and Max Grovestine will take part in the OJHL Zack Hyman Top Prospect Series in Cobourg on Tuesday before the team travels to Mississauga for a matinee game on Wednesday.

The Hurricanes next home game is Saturday, November 15th, when they take on the Pickering Panthers, at Ray Twinney! Puck drop is set for 4:30pm, with special guests the Newmarket Citizens Band performing live at the game. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at https://newmarkethurricanes.ticketpro.ca
