Your Newmarket Hurricanes battled in a hard fought loss against the Trenton Golden Hawks tonight at Ray Twinney!
Trenton opened the scoring late in the first period with goal by Jack Ziliotto. Hurricanes Forward Simon Wang tied it up with his 5th goal of the year 3 minutes into the 2nd period.
The Hurricanes took the lead with a power play goal from Reggie Taylor, assisted by Semenstov, which was his second assist of the game.
Newmarket gave up two goals late in the second period on the penalty kill from Trenton point leader Taeo Artichuk and Jack Ziliotto taking back the lead 3-2 for the Golden Hawks.
Hurricanes then give up an early third period goal Beckett Ewart increasing their lead by 2.
The final was 5-2 for the Trenton Golden Hawks, who added an empty net goal and taking the 2 points to lead the Eastern Conference with a 10 and 2 record. Newmarket falls to 6-5-1-1 and look to bounce back tomorrow on the road against the Pickering Panthers.
The Hurricanes next home game is next Saturday October 18 at 4:30pm, when they take on the Markham Royals.
